With Thanksgiving just around the corner and having a baby arrival even closer, I wanted to decorate my table for Thanksgiving early. We are going to have a baby this week and so we are not sure when we will get home from the hospital next week to prepare for the holiday. Since we will have a newborn all of my family will be traveling to our house for Thanksgiving. I love to create tablescapes so I knew I would be sad if I missed out on decorating our Thanksgiving table.
I love to decorate with candles. Candles set the mood during the holiday and can even alter moods. The fragrances surrounding the holidays can really make you and your guests happy. I love smelling pumpkin or clove around our home during the Fall or Fresh Balsam Fir or Buttercream Frosting during the winter months. I’ve always been a fan of The Yankee Candle® and their quality candles so I was so excited when they created the American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand at Walmart. American Home™ by Yankee Candle® brand offers high quality and long lasting candles that are inspired by true to life seasonal fragrances. You can find them in the candles and accessories aisle at your local Walmart.
Something that was really important to me this year for Thanksgiving was to only decorate the table with items I already owned. As I’m sure you know babies can be quite the investment and with the Holidays just around the corner there will be lots of expenses. Every table you create doesn’t need to have new items on it. You just need to be creative. For starters, you can see above that I used a candle holder to place my Apple Cinnamon Cider fragrance into. You can even use wax cubes in your decor as well. I loved the Spiced Orange & Clove fragrance and the visual variety it gives to the table. You can also take glasses from your kitchen to elevate some items so that you have varying levels of decor.
Use a serving tray as the center of your centerpiece and build around that. I gathered all of my pumpkin decor around the house and tried placing them in different spots and heights until I got the look I was looking for. It’s all trial and error. Many times I would clump some items together thinking it would look great but in the end it didn’t work out. It’s kind of like putting the pieces of a puzzle together. Make sure, especially when decorating with candles, to burn your candle on a heat resistant surface and keep it out drafty areas. Never leave a candle unattended. It’s also smart to cut the wick 1/8 of inch so that the flame isn’t too large. If you allow the entire top layer to become a pool of liquid wax you’ll always achieve the biggest, boldest fragrance possible. Remember once the candle only has 1/2″ of wax remaining, it’s time to let your candle go. Always look at the instructions on the candle to ensure you are using it properly.
I love the final result and can’t wait for this baby to be here and for Thanksgiving to come! Thankfully I’ll be ready now with a gorgeous table to enjoy with my family.
What’s your favorite holiday fragrance? Do you agree that candles add so much to feeling of the Holidays? I hope everyone had a great weekend and I’ll see you tomorrow with the start of my Baby Bundle series before we welcome baby girl to our family!
