I can’t believe I’m saying this but our little Gabi girl is now a year old! Where has the time gone?! It has truly been the most rewarding year of my life. I’m so fortunate to have two beautiful little girls that bring me so much joy! Of course, they drive me a little bonkers here and there but what kids don’t? 😉 It was a long journey to get to where we are today which makes me even more thankful for what we have.
I am also happy to say that we are still nursing and I don’t see the end in our future anytime soon! I am very passionate about breastfeeding and I always want to do what is right for myself and for my baby. One item I find extremely important in the health of myself and Gabi is taking a prenatal vitamin. I decided to go with Nature Made Prenatal Multi + 200 mg DHA before I was even pregnant. You want to start taking your prenatal 6 months before you get pregnant. I’m still taking it to this day so that I can send vital nutrients on to my little girl through my breast milk. I plan to continue to take a prenatal until I’m done nursing. It provides essential vitamins and minerals (before and during pregnancy) including Folic Acids, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Iodine, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D3.†
Nature Made Prenatal Multi + 200 mg DHA undergoes strict manufacturing processes. It has clinically proven absorption of folic acid and iron. Provides 200 mg DHA which may help support fetal brain and eye development.† It is free from synthetic dyes, yeast, starch and artificial flavors. It is also Gluten Free. Folic Acid is an important B Vitamin for Women of Childbearing Age and Pregnant Women – Plays a critical role in the proper development of the baby’s nervous system.† Adequate folic acid in healthful diets may reduce a woman’s risk of having a child with a neural tube defect.
Feeling the importance of keeping you and your little one healthy can help you focus on other things…such as preparing for child number 2! A lot of people say that adjusting from 0 to 1 child is more difficult than adjusting from 1 to 2 children! I would agree as you already know what to expect and you’ve done this before.
5 TIPS FOR GOING FROM ONE KIDDO TO TWO
It’s Actually Easier Than You Think
First, let me start with how much nicer the hospital stay was the second time around. Besides the whole giving birth part, it felt like a small little vacation for the both of us and our new little one. We weren’t as nervous, stressed or anxious. We knew what we were doing. We had done this before. You may forget a few small things here and there but your mind and body goes right back to when your first child was born.
Prep Your First Child
This is something that is very important. The hardest part of having the second child is helping the first child cope with the change. Can you imagine being the only child thought about, cared about, loved and the only one that got attention? Then one day it’s all taken away by this little adorable alien that comes into your home?! Do things like have Daddy take the older child out for ice cream or to the library while Mommy is nursing and spending time with the new baby. You can also buy a gift for the older sibling and have it be from their new sibling. Ask the older sibling to help you with things like grab diapers or wipes. Make them feel important. There are lots of things you can do to prepare them. What I’ve learned the most important thing is that you just need to continue to give them a ton of attention. That’s all they want. They want to feel as special and loved as the new little human being that joined the family.

Find Some Time for YOU
It’s so important to make time for you! This is something that I have struggled with and I’m working on it daily. I find that I’m a better Mom when I can have a little me time and do something I enjoy. Read a book. Watch a TV show. Play around on Facebook. Whatever makes you relax and enjoy some kid-free time is what you need!
Let Go of the Guilt
There are times you are going to feel guilty for spending too much time with the new baby and not your first child. That’s okay. There are times you are going to feel guilty for needing a break from the new baby. That’s okay. There are times you might like one child just a little bit better than the other. Haha That’s okay. There are times you feel like you should have embraced your pregnancy more. That’s okay. There are times you feel like you need to spend more time with your husband but you have two children attached to you all day long. You just want your space. That’s okay.
It’s okay to have those feelings and it’s normal and you are a good Mom! Let go of the guilt and try to enjoy the moments. There are good days and bad days. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows but it sure is amazing when you’ve multiplied that adorable little face that looks up at you lovingly.
Take care of yourself and a great way to do that is with your prenatal vitamin. A great place to buy your Nature Made Prenatal Multi + 200 mg DHA is at your local Sam’s Club. You can get a large number of vitamins that will last you 150 days for a great price! You only have to take one, easy to swallow pill a day, so it will last for close to 5 months!
