I have mentioned a little bit about what I have in store for 2018 and it’s a lot! I have a good feeling it’s going to be a great year and I’m going to work hard to make sure of that! I would say the goals and objectives I have for 2018 are mostly related to my blog and making it become a source of income for our family. When I started blogging I did it because I wanted to share my DIY projects with everyone. I didn’t want to keep posting my refashioned furniture on Facebook. So why not start a blog?!
Little did I know is that I would enjoy it so much. I love creating posts and sharing my projects with everyone. Most of all I really enjoy the business side of blogging. I like to research and take classes on how to master social media or organize my finances. The main things I am going to work on this year is consistently posting to social media and grow my following, finish courses that I have purchased, up my photography game and overall just consider this more of a business than a hobby.
Before I share my goals with you….when working, let’s be honest, I need some caffeine to keep me going. Various Holiday Stations, Chevrons and Kum & Go’s have this fancy new machine. It gives your soda a little zap of cold and makes it extra yummy to drink. It’s so much fun and it’s called Arctic Coke.
To start, pick your drink of choice. Next, tilt it from side to side and then place it into the cooling machine and press the button. As you can tell I went with Diet Coke®. It’s one of my favorite drinks to enjoy while I’m working. My husband often drinks a POWERADE® after a work out so I thought I’d get one for him as well! You can learn more about this amazing technology in this short youtube video. I recorded the cooling process on my phone with the POWERADE.
It was so fun to watch the soda cool before your eyes. Then it even tasted better and more refreshing! Head on over to learn more about Arctic Coke and find your nearby location.
Now that I have my caffeine and I’m ready to go here are my goals for 2018!
Set Quarterly Goals
A blogger that I have been following recently came out with a Blog Planner. I love it because it’s a planner specific to blogging. It’s hard to come across those and a good one at that. There are lots of things that a normal planner doesn’t have that a blog planner provides. Such as social media stats, sponsor contacts page, among other things. Within this specific blog planner, it sets you up with choosing quarterly goals. I really love the idea of this because it makes me focus on the goals that I made for that quarter and only those goals. There are a lot of things I want to get finished but these are bigger picture goals.
My 4 goals for this quarter are:
- Post 2 times a day on Instagram
- Figure out Tailwind & be consistent with Board Booster (both Pinterest pinning tools)
- Make my website a secure website (switch from http to https)
- Stay Organized! (with my planner, blog checklists & to do lists)
The idea is to choose bigger goals so that you have 3 months to work on those goals! I love this idea and I will definitely be keeping up with this throughout the year!
Be Consistent with Social Media
I have been known to write posts and then forget to share them on social media. That’s terrible for bloggers! The only way your post is going to be seen is to share it on all social media networks! That’s how the world of blogging works. My goals with social media are to share two photos on Instagram a day. With every post, I write I want to log that I shared on Twitter, Facebook, Google + and more. I have created a Blog Checklist where I can check off when I share on a specific media channel. I also have a scheduler within my WordPress which allows me to schedule months in advance so I want to be consistent with that as well.
Something that I have wanted to work on for soooo long is my photography. I purchased a DSLR camera once my blog started to get a little busy. I was fortunate enough to have a friend that let me borrow hers in the very beginning. I want to learn how to shoot in manual mode and I want to know how my camera works inside and out. I’ve heard from a lot of people that you need to read the manual. I guess that boring book is in my future! 🙂
There is nothing better than an ice-cold drink to keep me going and working hard. What do you do when sitting at a desk working? What are your goals for 2018? Have a great week and I’ll see you Thursday for the Creative Circle!
