I don’t know what it is but I just can’t shake my obsession with mirrored furniture. It’s mirrored madness! I feel like I could have everything covered in mirrors in my home. I do often wonder if this is a trend that will fade out or will it continue? Also why would I ever buy it when I have a one year old touching and grabbing everything!? Does all this stop me from dreaming about it? Nope! Here is a wish list of items I love and could find perfect spots for in my home!
When my husband and I bought our house our kitchen was fairly updated. It had granite counter tops, new laminate flooring, and a tile backsplash. It wasn’t that bad of a kitchen but I knew that I wanted to do little things to update it a bit.
After a lot of convincing my husband and lots of research, I decided to start by painting the tile. We couldn’t afford a whole new backsplash so we figured we could make a small change and if we hated it we could eventually replace the backsplash. Thankfully, we ended up loving it and have no plans to replace it at this point. I got the idea of painting the backsplash from 11 Magnolia Lane’s Blog from a pin on Pinterest. It was a small budgeted tile transformation that we loved!Read More
This week has been such a great Holiday! My husband and I hosted our first Thanksgiving in our new home and I have to say it was a successful Thanksgiving! I feel so grown up! 🙂
We have always lived in apartments so it has always been cramped when family comes to visit. We have gradually increased our square footage of living space in the past year. When we lived in California we lived in a small but beautiful apartment in Aliso Viejo that was around 900 square feet. When my husband got the job in Minnesota we only had a weekend to find a place to live. We decided to rent because we didn’t know exactly where we wanted to live and we also needed to research the school districts a little more. Our last place we visited ended up being the one! It was a wonderful townhome that features 2 beds, 2 baths, and a loft. It was perfect and we were stoked to go from 900 square feet to 1,700 square feet.
Within a few months we were already starting to grow out of the townhome. Children sure do take up a lot of space! We decided it was time to maybe start looking for a house. We went to many open houses and then started working with a realtor. I was obsessed with looking at houses online…probably too obsessed. 😉 We only saw a few houses with our realtor and then fell in love with our current house. It all happened very quickly and we decided to put in an offer while we were visiting friends in Wisconsin over Memorial Day Weekend. Within 2 days of negotiating, they accepted our offer and I immediately started decorating our house in my head. We were fortunate enough to have scored a 5 bedroom, 2,600 square foot home. We were not looking for this large of a home but it was in our price range so why not?!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I am so excited to start this journey of blogging! I want to document the progress of our new home as well as my love for refinishing furniture! I am also very passionate about music and I will probably show you about my hobby from time to time as well.
Today I am so thankful for my family and and for our new home. We are so happy to be hosting our first Thanksgiving. Here is a preview of our table setting. I have a huge project in store for our dining room table and I can’t wait to share it with you! Have an amazing day with friends and family!
My name is Ruthie, I was born and raised in the Midwest. I met the man of my dreams in Nashville, TN and decided to follow him back home to California. First came love, then came marriage, then came the baby in the baby carriage. We have a beautiful little girl named Lucy. My husband got a new job when Lucy was 2 months old and we packed up and moved half way across the country to Minnesota, back to my homeland. We bought a house that needed a little TLC, so here I am! I created this blog to share my journey of home ownership and my passion for furniture restoration. While creating my dream home I also love to spend time with my family, sing barbershop and teach littles about music! If you want to know more about me please do ask!
