My daughters’ playroom has seen a few transformations over the past few years. When we moved into our home our basement was rarely used. We did not have enough furniture to fill our house so the playroom was originally in our dining room. For the first year we mostly lived on the top level of our home. Once our furniture collection started to grow and we actually got a dining room table we decided to move the playroom to our downstairs area.Read More
This post has been a long time coming and I couldn’t be happier with the results! We have ugly brown fake hollow core doors throughout our house. I wanted to get all new doors but then realized what a pain it is to replace doors. I already tormented my husband with projects while I was pregnant so I’ve been trying to take more things on myself lately. I knew I couldn’t do the doors myself, so I decided to give them a little makeover instead.Read More
I am super into stenciling right now and I love how dramatic and interesting it makes a piece feel. I’ve done quite a few stenciling projects in the past (Stenciled Table Makeover, Updated Knife Block, Antique Side Table, & Little Tikes Table) and I’m not stopping there! I have another amazing stencil project for you today! I teamed up with Cutting Edge Stencils to create a feature wall in my Guest Room. I have used their stencil before with my Stenciled Table Makeover and I can attest that their stencils are far better quality than any other stencil I have used.
Our entire house has needed new paint so we’ve been working on one room at a time. My current project is our guest room. I’m planning to participate in the One Room Challenge next month and I’ve gotten a tiny bit of a head start with the painted walls. Here is what our guest room looked like before. It was pretty much the room where all things “extra” were placed. Nothing matched or went together.Read More

To paint or not to paint? That is the question. 🙂 So I’m really struggling with (as I’m sure you’ve heard me say) whether to paint my kitchen cabinets or not. Before we moved into our home I was going to paint all of the woodwork and cabinets white. No questions. Then family members and my husband have encouraged me to live with it for a while before I make any drastic changes. I also think about how Nicole Curtis never paints wood and keeps it original. And she’s from Minneapolis too! (My home is not nearly as old though as the homes she works on though….)
I don’t feel like white cabinets will go out of style. Case in point…my mom painted her cabinets white 18 years ago and it’s still in style. I just love the look that white cabinets bring to a kitchen, it’s crisp, clean and helps brighten up a room.
