Hollow Core Door Makeovers

Happy Friday everyone!  I have a fun Friday Favorites for you today and it involves all things hollow core doors.

Our house was built in 1991 and all of the trim and woodwork in our house was brown.  Every door into the bedrooms or closets is all hollow core doors.

Replacing doors can be a bit of a pain and can be expensive.  So I decided to give them all a little makeover of my own!

Bedroom & Bathroom Door Makeover

With all the doors in our upstairs area I added O'verlays to the fronts and backs of the doors. I love how they give it a modern look and it didn't take very much time!

One Room Challenge Lucy's Room - FINAL REVEAL!

I painted my older daughter's closet doors white. I added 2 ceiling medallions and glass knobs for added interest.

Gabi, my youngest, recently transitioned to a big girl bed.  So that means the beautiful drapes used as “doors” had to go.  Well not really, I folded them very nicely and have them set aside to be used again.

Now came in the ugly hollow core closet doors…that are also bifold. 🙁brown bifold hollow core closet doors with white woodwork and walls

I’ve started the process of redoing the closet doors and you can see the complete tutorial over at HomeRight!

I grabbed two of my favorite DIY tools and got to work painting.  Anytime I am doing a painting project I grab one of my HomeRight Spray Shelters and one of my HomeRight sprayers.

My two favorites are the Medium Spray Shelter and the Finish Max Extra!  Painting has never been so quick and easy!white closet against white walls and a rocking chair in front

Now that I have the door painted, I want to add some detail to it!  I started roaming around online for some inspiration.

I really love all of these door makeovers below!  Should I try and recreate one of these?!

This is a great tutorial by Kristi from Addicted 2 Decorating. What a huge difference a little molding does to a regular door.

You would have no idea that this is the same door. I love how Brittany adds beadboard and molding to create a completely different look!

This closet was given new life with peel and stick paper! I would have never thought to use that but it really turned out great!

I had to share another one of my favorite friend's closet makeover! Yet again, so simple with the molding but it really has a large impact on the look!

There is some really great inspiration above and I’m going to continue to think of what exactly I want to do.  Which one would you vote for me to add to Gabi’s room?!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I’ll be back next week with a few more posts for you!  Happy Friday!

My name is Ruthie, I was born and raised in the Midwest.  I met the man of my dreams in Nashville, TN and decided to follow him back home to California.  First came love, then came marriage, then came the baby in the baby carriage.  My husband got a new job when my daughter was 2 months old and we packed up and moved halfway across the country to Minnesota, back to my homeland. We now have two beautiful little girls.
