I can’t believe my baby girl is turning 2 at the end of this month!  Time really does fly when you have a little one.  I constantly have to remind myself to stop and smell the roses and to cherish each moment because it goes quickly!  Almost a year ago we celebrated Lucy’s 1st birthday.  The theme I chose was princess with beautiful light pink touches of color!  We had a small and intimate party with only family and one of my friends and her girls.  It was a perfect way to celebrate Lucy’s 1st birthday!

This time last year the idea of a blog was no where in my mind.  We had just moved into our first home and all I could think about was getting unpacked and starting to paint the house.  It wasn’t until November that I really thought about creating a blog.  With that being said, I apologize ahead of time for the iPhone pictures and lack of “how tos” with this post.

How stinking cute is this smash cake?  It was only $5 and it’s from Target!  I found an image of a cake I loved and they were able to create it for me.  Funny thing is that it is mostly frosting with an extra large cupcake inside!

The cupcakes were also from Target and had a really cute crystal/glitter sprinkled on top!  I got the little crown sugar toppers at JoAnn Fabrics.

I made this “one” sign with precut burlap from Michaels.  I have had a hard time finding these again at Michaels but here are similar ones from Amazon.  I then used a stencil and craft paint to paint “one” on the banner.  I also bought some little flowers from Michaels and glued them on with a hot glue gun!  I love how it turned out and it was super cute while she was in the high chair eating her smash cake!

Her birthday party was perfect and I had so much fun watching it through the eyes of my little girl.  I can’t wait for this year’s party as it’s Minnie Mouse themed…her absolute favorite thing in the world! I’m working with some really great Etsy shops to create the perfect scenery for the party!  I’m going to leave you with a few photos of her 1 year photo shoot with the amazing Abby Libsack Photography.

What a sweet party! The smash cake is just additional proof of Target’s awesomeness. Pinned to my birthday party ideas board!

mother holding baby in the air and going for a kiss

My name is Ruthie, I was born and raised in the Midwest.  I met the man of my dreams in Nashville, TN and decided to follow him back home to California.  First came love, then came marriage, then came the baby in the baby carriage.  My husband got a new job when my daughter was 2 months old and we packed up and moved halfway across the country to Minnesota, back to my homeland. We now have two beautiful little girls.
