Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is having a great Holiday! We headed to California to spend Christmas with my in-laws. We arrived on Friday evening and the San Diego airport was a complete mess. Lucy would not sleep on the plane so she was pretty exhausted when we arrived. Saturday morning my husband and I headed up to Orange County to spend the day with friends. I had quartet rehearsal all day with my brand new quartet! We had so much fun learning music and we even had our first gig!
So to explain my little hobby quickly. I am a member of Sweet Adelines International. We are an organization of women singing in the barbershop a cappella style. Groups consist of choruses with as many as 180 women and quartets of 4. I have been a member of a chorus in the past but currently I’m just focusing on my quartet. We have two competitions a year, a regional competition in the Spring which qualifies you to compete at International. The international competition is held in the fall and each year around 50 quartet and choruses compete for gold. When a quartet wins they get a shiny crown! 🙂 My current quartet hasn’t chosen a name but you can see some videos of my previous quartets on my Lessons By Ruthie page. I will post a video of my new quartet hopefully soon!
We have had a really nice time spending time with family and enjoying the beautiful weather in sunny California. I mean 80 degrees in December…you can’t beat that!
From my family to yours, Merry Christmas! I hope you have an amazing day filled with family and friends!
