One Room Challenge Lucy's Room Week 1 - www.refashionablylate.comI can’t believe it’s time for the One Room Challenge again!  If you are new here the One Room Challenge happens twice a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring.  The goal is to transform a room in 6 weeks time.  I have participated in 3 other transformations and you can see the final reveals here:

Guest Room  |  Gabriella’s Nursery  |  Bathroom

This round I’m going to transform our 3-year-old daughter’s room into a big girl room!  Recently Lucy became a big sister so most of her baby items were moved into Gabi’s room.  We moved her into a big girl bed and I’ve slowly been transitioning her room but have always been too busy or pregnant to really make it her own.  I created a beautiful room for her little sister and now I’m so excited to do the same for her! Here is how the room looked when we moved in:

Lucy was 11 months old when we moved in and we painted her room and I quickly made it into an adorable little nursery for her.  I was really happy with how it turned out on a small budget.

Here are a few pictures of how her room looked before her big girl bed joined the room!

I plan to hang some decorative items around the room and paint the woodwork white.  I have some beautiful fabric that I’m planning to use to make a cornice with an attached bed canopy for her daybed. Here is an example of what I am going for:

Here is my to-do list for Lucy’s Room:

  • Touch up wall paint
  • Paint woodwork
  • Paint closet doors
  • Frame & hang art
  • Hang Curtains
  • Build cornice for bed
  • Sew bed canopy
  • Repaint night stand
  • Hang bookshelves
  • Apply decals & hang mirrors
  • Paint doors & apply o’verlays
  • Change out the light fixture
  • Change out light switch & outlets

I’m so excited to be partnering with these amazing companies for this round of the One Room Challenge.

Your inspiration is beautiful! I just realized our daughters are practically the same age, I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 9 month old. Good luck with the room makeover!

What a special room to take on for the one room challenge. I really love the large floral prints on your inspiration board. Feminine, more grown up, and a large impact piece! Looking forward to seeing how this room comes together.

My name is Ruthie, I was born and raised in the Midwest.  I met the man of my dreams in Nashville, TN and decided to follow him back home to California.  First came love, then came marriage, then came the baby in the baby carriage.  My husband got a new job when my daughter was 2 months old and we packed up and moved halfway across the country to Minnesota, back to my homeland. We now have two beautiful little girls.
