One Room Challenge Nursery Week 3 - www.refashionablylate.com

I hope everyone is enjoying the Fall weather and watching all of these room reveals over at the One Room Challenge.  This is the perfect time of year to do projects as it’s not hot outside and some days it’s even cool enough to open up the windows while you work!  I love Fall!  Plus the cooler weather is really nice on a 9 month pregnant gal! 🙂

If you missed the past couple weeks of progress you can catch up here:

Today I’m going to share with you how I used Carousel Designs Nursery Designer to help decorate my room.  The first thing I did was browse their different fabrics and then they will send you some free samples to view in person.  I’m very indecisive and I wanted it to match my wallpaper so I ordered quite a few.  It’s also great to see the quality of the fabric and texture, etc.  (which are all incredible!)

I have created a little video on how to use this amazing tool to help design the nursery of your dreams! Feel free to subscribe to my youtube channel while you are there 🙂

A beautiful nursery is key to feeling comfortable in your space but something else that is super important is your child’s safety.  I tend to worry a little more than the usual so knowing I have done everything I can to keep my baby safe really eases my mind.  I didn’t want to focus on decorating my crib as much as I wanted to focus on decorating the nursery.  I wanted the very basics for crib decor because I love the simplicity and safeness of the crib.  As you can see your crib can still be cute and stylish without all the extras such as stuffed animals, pillows, toys, blankets, etc.

October is SIDS awareness month so it’s important you use safe sleep practices for you and for baby. For some really great tips and suggestions to safe sleeping and crib safety head on over to HALO’s website.  I will be having my daughter next month so it’s going to be chilly inside and out.  We obviously have the heat on but it always seems to get cold in the evening.  I love HALO’s SleepSack because it helps keep baby warm without a chance of getting wrapped up in a blanket where a baby can’t get out.  A safer baby makes for a more restful and happy Mama!

Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SIUD) still claims more than 3,500 infants each year in North America.  More than half of these deaths are preventable when proper safe sleep practices are followed.   To help keep all babies sleeping safely and avoid these unnecessary tragedies, HALO is dedicated to putting the health, safety and well-being of babies first. In fact, over 1,400 hospitals use HALO® SleepSack® wearable blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Hospital Initiative.  Through this program HALO has helped Hospitals and Birth Centers throughout North America create their own safe sleep programs, which utilize the HALO SleepSack Swaddle to demonstrate to parents and caregivers how to keep their babies sleeping safely.  To date, HALO has donated more than $4.3 million in its efforts to promote safe sleep education. – HALO

Here is where I am at with progress of the nursery:

  • Paint woodwork/trim
  • Paint ceiling
  • Paint walls
  • Change light fixture
  • Change outlets & switches
  • Wallpaper focus wall
  • Remove closet doors
  • Hang curtain rods
  • Hang drapes
  • Put bedding on
  • Hang shelves/artwork
  • Paint closet
  • Install closet system
  • Organize closet

We are defintely getting closer with being halfway there!  I’m so excited to have this room finished so that I can sit back and relax and wait for baby to arrive!  Thanks again to all of my amazing sponsors!

mother holding baby in the air and going for a kiss

My name is Ruthie, I was born and raised in the Midwest.  I met the man of my dreams in Nashville, TN and decided to follow him back home to California.  First came love, then came marriage, then came the baby in the baby carriage.  My husband got a new job when my daughter was 2 months old and we packed up and moved halfway across the country to Minnesota, back to my homeland. We now have two beautiful little girls.
